The Golf Bay Project —
A Question of Timing and Stewardship
Our excellent golf courses and insurance costs alone absorb roughly 40% of The Glades’ budget. The Board is preparing to vote on adding new golf hitting bays at a cost of $130,000+.
The Glades already has hitting bays, two practice putting greens, a chipping green, and a modern high-tech video golf bay. No analysis has been presented to owners showing how this change serves the broader community interest.
Key Concerns
We are focused on protecting the financial health of The Glades. Here are the critical issues that affect every owner.
Spending $s We Don't Have
New Bays Cost: Estimated at $120,000+ - likely more in new discretionary spending - no completed scoping and bidding process.
Lack of Strategic Planning
Failure to address how the considerable expenditures on new Golf Bays fits into the overall strategic planning for our community.
Incomplete Assessment Process
The project assessment process has raised numerous governance questions and concerns.
Unanswered Questions
Many unanswered questions remain regarding the timing, process, and priorities of converting pickleball courts into golf hitting bays
Potential Proxy Vote in Off-Season
A Proxy Vote on the Golf Bay Project could potentially happen off-season when many owners are distracted or away – also not good
TGFA's Position
We are not against golf improvements. We are asking for a thoughtful deliberation:
-
Present a credible reserve plan first,
-
Develop a full strategic plan, or
-
At least, run a transparent process, with owners fully informed of all options and how they tangibly address community-wide needs – not just wants.
